Hello world, or the small portion of it that’s stumbled upon my website. My name is Anne Parker and I’m from Columbus, Ohio. I’m a junior at West Virginia University majoring in Strategic Communications with a focus on Public Relations, with a double-minor in Political Science and Strategic Social Media. This is really all just a fancy way of saying I’m getting my Bachelor’s in Journalism. I’m currently considering a Master’s in Data Marketing, but I don’t know if I can take anymore school at this point, so that’s a problem for future Anne to figure out. For more deets on me, check out my author page, as well.
Admittedly I created FEMTECH for one of my classes this semester (this use to be my personal website, but those posts are now private for the time being☺︎), however, the thoughts behind each post and the overall topic of this blog has been one that I’ve thought about for a while now. This blog, although inherently created as a school assignment, is meant to bring attention to the women who are working, creating and driving the technology industry. Each post is meant to put the names of female tech giants and no-names alike, the issues they face, and the accomplishments they make in the minds of the public.
I’ve only recently begun working in the technology and STEM industry, but already I can see the changes that need to be made—and I want to help bring attention to them. Follow along as I chronicle the tech community in a voice noticeably unfamiliar to this group—a woman’s. If you’re a glutton for punishment, you can also follow me on various other social media sites under the handle @annep901. Happy reading!
